Is there a way to permanently prohibit message synchronization for all users via GPO or about:config in the settings, synchronization & storage space? I would like to prevent users from being able to synchronize messages offline.

Hi all! Every now and then I get this error message upon trying to send emails (see image).

This happens with various email recipients. After about an hour or two I am able to send any emails without getting this error.

Also, I have absolutely no problems sending emails directly from the server, this happens only in Thunderbird and it is up-to-date, version 128.8.0esr 64-bit on Windows 11. It used to happen on my old PC running Windows 10 which I stopped using a week ago. On my new one I set the local directory to the archive I backed up from the old PC to the new one.

Has anyone experienced the same problem or has any suggestions how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

I received a PGP-encrypted e-mail which is just showing the encrypted text in mail preview and also in a separate mail window; it is not getting auto-decrypted, even though the correct key is present in the OpenPGP key management. I have this same behavior on two different setups on Linux Mint 21.1 Vera. Once I reply to the e-mail, the original message gets decrypted in the reply message, but not in the original.

I've got another setup on MacOS, same Thunderbird version, which also does not auto-decrypt the message, but in message preview provides a button "Decrypt" which does the job. But this button is missing in the Linux configs.

All setups have the correct PGP Key configured.

Any hint to resolve the issue is highly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I use TB via MailWasherPro to receive emails. Some of the emails which arrive at MWP do not transfer to TB. I have looked in the spam etc boxes and they are not there. I have contacted MWP and they say the emails are only previewed in MWP and have no part in the transfer.

Maybe some settings in TB are not correct?

Hello helpful community, Yesterday after first updating my mac ios, I updated Thunderbird (as directed) on my macbook pro and discovered that my local folders are gone. I now have version 128.7.0esr. I have read other conversations here about this problem but they are WAY over my head, and seem to do with PCs. Can you help me restore my local folders with instructions I can hopefully understand? I followed the article "Switch from POP to IMAP account" successfully. But I am left with two problems: 1. Whenever I try to send an email I get the error message "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.lcn.com timed out. Try again." I have to use webmail or my mobile phone to do so. 2. After I switched, Thunderbird created a new folder for incoming emails with the title of my email address. I already had a default folder using my account name, so I copied all the new emails to that and deleted the new one. I then went to Server Settings and changed the User Name to my Account name, which it was previously. However, my incoming emails now do not appear at all, I can only see them on my phone or webmail. I have checked my settings over & over but I cannot see anything wrong. I would include some screenshots but the print screen button on this temporary keyboard doesn't seem to work properly. (I am in the process of transferring all my work to a new PC running Windows 11.)

Overnight Thunderbird has developed a major problem. The count for the number of mails in a folder is correct, as best I can tell, but when I open the folder it is either empty or has fewer mails than the count. Based on several tests, repairing sometimes adds more mails, sometimes not, but never the entire folder.

I repaired the inbox and it is now showing several mails that I deleted in the last few days (by emptying the delete folder having previously deleted them). Curiously, they’re all the same type, routine mailings about road works.

I may have backup in that I copy the entire Thunderbird folder to an external drive every morning, including today, and to Google Drive every Wednesday.

Please can you help.

I have two calendars on my iPhone, in the Calendars app. I maintain the same two calendars in TB. TB is set to "Show all calendars", and it does show them. If I make an entry in either of the calendars, it DOES automatically sync and show up on my iPhone. But if I make an entry on my iPhone, it will only show up in TB if it is entered into the "My Calendar", but it won't sync if it was entered in the second calendar, even though both of the calendars are active and show on the iPhone. Help!
